Ready for a new year!

August is here and Pack 42 leadership is gearing up for a new Cub Scout year!

Parents, you have been surveyed and 90% of you said you are looking for family scouting.  So this year we are accepting girls and they will have their own dens in Cub Scouts here at 42.

We are looking for a Lion leader and leaders for any girl dens created.  To be a leader you must be 21+ and a registered adult with the BSA.  You may be a parent, grandparent, friend or a lover of scouts to be a leader!  Please contact Cubmaster Angela if you are interested.

Tuesday August 28 from 6:30-7:30pm will be our “Welcome Back to Scouts night” with food, fun and fellowship.

Thursday August 30 from 6:30-7:30pm  is the council wide Open House for Cub Scouts.  We will have a information stand set up outside for any new interested families who would like to join.

I hope everyone had a great summer and can’t wait to catch up on the 28th!

Yours In Scouting,

Cubmaster Angela Bruckart

Inclement Weather Policy

As our region is currently under the threat of potential inclement weather for our regular Tuesday meetings, we thought it would be a good time to remind everyone on our policy in regards to inclement weather.

In general, we follow the policy of doing whatever Charlotte Mecklenburg School (CMS) District does for the day.  If CMS decides to hold school (either normal or late start) we will hold our meetings that same day.  If CMS closes for the full day or closes early, we will also not hold our meetings that same day.  Please also note, if CMS is closed for another reason, such as a holiday that falls on our meeting day, we will also observe the closure and not have a meeting.

As with all things though, we urge you to use your own discretion.  If we are having our meetings, but you feel it is unsafe to come, we understand.

For our meeting on Tuesday, 9/12/17, we are currently planning on holding the meeting, but will update this post if that decision changes closer to the meeting time.

What to bring to Cub Scouts…

A few parents are asking what to bring to our Open House/Picnic/Movie Night or our first Information Pack Meeting on Tuesday 8/29.

For the Open House/Picnic/Movie Night:  a picnic; any questions you have about scouts; you can register and pay for dues (due are payable in full; increments; money should never hold a person back from joining); and a fun attitude ready to play games, meet new friends and enjoy an evening outside.

Informative Pack Meeting on 8/29: Leadership will go through the paperwork in more detail; explanations of what to buy at the Scout Shop; talk about opportunities for training for adults; Scouts will have some crafts and activities to work on.  Current pack members please wear uniform.

Uniforms for new members are not needed till the pack meeting at the end of September.  If you do not sew, the Scout Shop will sew them on for $3 per patch.

Any new member please bring any registration packets you may have received already and a pen.  If you have not received anything, we will have it available that night.

Den Meetings: scout book and a pencil

Pack Meetings: Wear Class “A” uniform; no book needed

Pack t-shirt (Class “B” uniform) to be worn to events/outings

Pack 42 at the Charlotte Knights!

Pack 42 joined several other Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops for the 2017 annual Charlotte Knights sleepover on June 18th at BB&T Field in Downtown Charlotte.  After taking in the game (and having some hot dogs) the boys were treated to a showing of Rookie of the Year, followed by a sleep over on the field!  Reveille came early, however, and the boys were up for a quick breakfast before heading out!
